If size matters most, then seek Lutsen or Colorado. If experience matters more, then Steeplechase is definitely worth exploring. The people are incredibly kind and fun. And the lines, they’re practically nonexistent. With 4 chairlifts and more than 20 runs, running into crowds are few. Often, one can hop right back on a lift without waiting. It’s wonderful! This is a special gem that’s a stone’s throw from Rochester. Check this place out. For the experience, the value is fantastic! Highly recommend. And they have tubing there as well and it seems very popular. Since I haven’t done it personally, look at other reviews for more information. As for skiing, Steeplechase is absolutely worth a visit.

We moved to Rochester from Steamboat Springs, CO a couple of years ago where we all learned to ski or snowboard on that famous Champagne powder. We mostly skied at the resort but loved going to Howelsen Hill too. Steeplechase was no disappointment!! I felt like I was back at Howelson stringing little fun runs together to make the longest run possible and there are a lot to choose from! I had so much fun! My niece and nephew had never been skiing or snowboarding but after just one lesson they were able to have a blast all day long. The lifts and lodge are in amazing condition, it’s obviously well cared for, clean and inviting. If you have a kid from 1-100 who wants to try out skiing or snowboarding this is the place to take them. And for the people with more experience, you can string runs together for a nice, challenging loop. The price is half the cost and the distance from Rochester is perfect. Delicious snacks, food, and drinks, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and big wide runs make this perfect family day experience. 10 out of 10 from this CO native.

I can’t say enough good things about Steeplechase. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Tubing here is great! Nice speed down the tubing hill and has a tow rope that easily brings you back up the hill. We ages 45 and 11 rented the Sno-Go bikes for four hours. I age 45 am sore after snowboarding, but feel great after using sno-go bike so it’s easier on the body. We had no experience and got it after a couple runs. The ski hills were nicely groomed. We took a 15 minute break in the chalet, which has great food and drinks. Well what are you waiting for? Go to Steeplechase and live your best life!

Been here quite a bit over the years. Despite the slushy snow today it was still a lot of fun. Also had a good time chatting with Roman while he was working.

Remington and Dylan helped our kids, 3 & 5 years old, with their first ever lesson and they were awesome. The kids loved them and the ski slopes. My wife and I hit the rest of the hill while kids were in lessons and it was super fun. Great little hill 20 minutes from Rochester. We can’t wait to come back and are happy our kids first time skiing was at steeple chase.

Skied here today for the first time. Great local hill. Wasn’t busy at all, seems to be off the beaten path enough to deter the crowds. Conditions were perfect, found great value in their 3 pack lift ticket bundle for $150. Had great skiing all day without waiting in any line. Worth the trip down from the cities for the day. Great options for lunch in their little cafe set up too. Would love to see this place busy! Make the trip! Well worth it!
